El Presidente

I have just finished reading the English version of Miguel Angel Asturias’ masterpiece, El Presidente. An integration of romance, politics, human nature, and comedy gives it a satirical tone. The story was really interesting and I appreciate the manner the author depicted the characters. It builds excitement to the reader and the way he played with the setting adds up to the impact. However, the Latin-American novel is quite difficult to read considering the fact that some Latin phrases could not be directly translated in English. Nonetheless, the art form proved to be fascinating and awakens a variety of emotions from the audience. True enough, the book is really rewarding.
