Is This Tiger Picture Going to Eat Me?

David Artsmith - Today I painted a tiger. I don’t know why i did it, I knew what was going to happen, but I guess I was just feeling a little bored with life, so I went for it.

He started pacing around on the canvas before I was even done, making it quite difficult to get his lovely stripes straight. But I did, because I am a perfectionist.

The second I was finished wham, he leaped right off the page, and there he was, a 10 foot long tiger pacing back and forth in my living room. A little piece of magic in a big kitty body.

At first I was frightened. I'm no chicken, but a tiger is pretty scary when you see one up close and personal, especially when there are no bars between you and the great cat.

Well…I calmed down pretty quickly. It turns out I had painted a friendly beast, that loved to have his ears scratched, which I was happy to oblige. Then he rolled on his back, and made these adorable purring noises. Oh kitty!

What a lovely afternoon we had, pouncing one another about the living room, cuddling by the television, and of course, enjoying a lunch of tuna casserole. We were the best of buddies and everything was wonderful.

Then he got up, sniffed the air, and jumped through an open window, and went running down the street. I tried to chase him but he was wayyyyyy too fast.

I have been keeping a lazy ear on the radio, waiting to hear reports of a tiger rampaging through the downtown area but so far it’s been quiet. I think hes probably just found a park to play in. Maybe I’ll go out later and see if I can track him down. Bring him a bowl of milk or a slab of meat or something
