A Reader?s Perspective

Being a person who is fond of books, I could totally say that one?s knowledge is being enriched through the books you read. True enough reading books will bring you a lot of positive benefits. But there is also another aspect of reading that might be perceived as a negative effect.

In reading books, you should learn to be critical of the things that you read. There is a very huge possibility that a reader?s mind will be corrupted by that of the author. You have to be vigilant of the things that you come in contact with and assess whether the author?s idea holds true to you. Consider how it could affect your values and morals before taking It all in.

Sometimes, you encounter ideas while reading a book that are contrary to your personal convictions. Try to examine which could hold more ground to your conscience. Do just accept that just because it is a published thought then it is automatically true. On the other hand, try to keep an open mind. Do not reject an idea without due consideration. Be sure to process everything and decide which is applicable in reality and which will be more akin to your being.

Reading entails a more than being thought of. It is not purely done for leisure but it also a way of feeding the soul of the person. However, no one could say for certain which among the ideas being presented to you is right or wrong. All those ideas contained in the book are of the author. At times, authors make use of different perspectives to add color and vibrancy to the character and the plot in totality. In fact, they even use ideas that might sound convincing to others but not necessarily something they hold true. The only way for you to know is by asking your inner self what it is you believe in. Be sure to do reading with responsibility in order for you not to be led astray or in a different direction. Make it a habit to always be critical of what other people are saying may it be in print or otherwise.
